My Velvet Bow Christmas Tree

| |

This year my focus was on elegant simplicity with a passion for velvet trimmings. So, here is my velvet bow tree that sits in our front living room.

This year I bought another faux tree. That makes my third tree which seems crazy for me. I am now, “I have more than one tree person.” Never did I think I would have more than one tree. Since adding another tree I had to portion my trimmings and I didn’t want to spend a lot on more decor. I had a box of brand new navy velvet ribbon so that’s what this tree received. Velvet bows to trim the tree and I LOVE it!

My Velvet Bow Christmas Tree

When we moved into our current home, 7 years ago, our first Christmas here was a trip to the tree farm on Black Friday to cut down our tree. This was something I always wanted to do as a girl so creating this memory for myself and our children was so wonderful.

We loved this tradition but last year we decided to buy a faux tree when our last real tree literally looked like a toothpick 2 weeks before Christmas. All the needles just fell off. Six years of cutting down our tree was enough and memories were made. Moving on!

We ordered this 7.5ft pre-lit tree and I love it. It’s easy to set up and is pre-lit. Easy!

The focus of this year’s Christmas decor was velvet; both with ribbon and pillows. I tied in navy and dark green velvet throughout the house with a touch off navy and green plaid.

Green ribbon for hanging the window wreaths as well as green pillows on the sofa. Navy blue velvet on the tree as well as pillow covers too.

The rest of the decor for Christmas is neutral with just that pop of navy and green. I kept the family room and kitchen Christmas decor very organic feeling and matched the neutral feel in the rest of the house with stockings, blankets, greenery and pillows.

I added the adorable brass bell garland, a few ornaments and the velvet bows finished it off.

There you have it; an elegant tree with lovely bows. I wish I could see everyone’s tree as I imagine they are gorgeous. Have a great weekend friends!

  1. Hello Patricia! Hmmm, I am not sure how much ribbon I used for each bow; I kind of just eye balled it. I do know that I used 3/8″ and 1″ ribbon in two different lengths. Hope that helps! The black ribbon will be lovely!
