Finding the right sofa can be daunting as it’s one of the most used pieces of furniture and also the biggest furniture investment for your home.
When we remodeled our kitchen, kids’ bath and replaced the floor in the family room it was the perfect time to ditch our 13 year old dark, worn out leather sofa set. I wanted something lighter and lineny.
Sofa Search Criteria
- a high end look
- the right size (85-90″”)
- elegant classic style with only one or two seat cushions
- slipcovered and easy to clean

- AND budget-friendly since I needed 2
I wanted my family to be comfortable since these would be where we live, eat take out, watch movies and cuddle with the dog plus I didn’t want to hold my breath every time someone sat down on my $4K sofa.

I went to all the stores listed below and plopped my rear on every sofa I could find and fell in love with many.
I also looked a lot on line and read many reviews.

Sofas under $1K
Fortunately, getting this high end look doesn’t have to be expensive but it does take some searching. Here is a roundup of sofas that look high-end, have slipcovers and are cozy.
1. Shelby
Featuring flared arms and a streamlined silhouette that elevates living space but is still cozy. This sofa is not slipcovered, but still a lovely piece and available in color options.
2. Brynn
At a great price the Brynn Sofa looks and feels comfy. Feather filled cushions and removable and reversible cushions makes it easy to clean and cozy. Crafted of solid pine wood frame with polyester-nylon performance upholstery ensures it’s long lasting.
3. Ayanna
Love the bench seat on this one; one of my criteria. This is crafted in the USA and wrapped in polyester upholstery that comes in several colors of your choice. With spring seat construction, removable seat and back cushions, and lightly flared arms this is a nice option.
4. Copper Grove
Measuring 80″ wide was a little short for us, but love the look of this sofa. Looks classic and adds a touch of traditional to your space. It does have 3 seat cushions and with kids and a dog I prefer one or two.
5. Farlov
This is our sofa. After months of trying out so many in stores, searching online retailers and reading review after review, we decided this was the one (or 2) for us. We wanted a sectional, but the long shape of the room would have closed the flow of the room so we opted for 2 sofas instead. Now all 4 have enough space to relax, including the dog. Ikea doesn’t have a lot of slipcovers to chose from so I order all mine from this online store and have been very happy with them.
SOFAS UNDER $1.5k
Here’s a great line up of sofa under $1500. Some have slipcovers; others do not but have quite a selection of fabrics to chose from.

Coming in at the higher end of our budget per sofa is the $2k sofa, either right at $2k, under or less than $100 over. These sofas offer a little more quality.

6. Willow
