Mother’s Day Gift Ideas
Hard to believe Mother’s Day is right around the corner. I love Mother’s Day and not just because I am a mother and it means a gift (most of the time) but because it celebrates one of the highest positions in the world. They say the hand that rocks the cradles rules the world. I have a lovely round-up of Mother’s Day Gift Ideas perfect for that special mom in your life.

History of Mother’s Day
The celebration of Mother’s Day in the United States dates back tot he 19th century. A lady named Ann Reeves Jarvis helped start Mother’s Day Work Clubs prior to the Civil War to help teach local women how to care for their children. These clubs later became a unifying force in a region of the country still divided over the Civil War. In 1868 Jarvis organized “Mothers’ Friendship Day,” at which mothers gathered with former Union and Confederate soldiers to promote reconciliation. In 1908 Mother’s Day become an official holiday in the United States in 1914.
While the date of Mother’s Day and how we celebrate varies, this day has traditionally involved presenting moms with flowers, cards and other gifts. While this day is not so much about what you buy for your mom but how you show her you love her and appreciate her throughout the year as well. Mother’s Day is a holiday honoring motherhood that is observed in different forms throughout the world.

I am likely a rare breed but I love to wear dresses when the weather starts to warm up. They are just comfortable to me and lady-like. Now, wearing a dress working on our property is a bit difficult and not the best, but in the summer, running around town give me a comfortable dress and a pair of flip-flops any day.

If you have a mother who loves to garden these gift ideas are sure to please. I don’t consider myself to have a green thumb but not a black thumb either; rather somewhere in the middle. While I’ve never tried my hand at a vegetable garden I do love to plant seasonal flowers and landscape our yard and do a decent job. I am a plant lover for sure and love a well maintained and designed yard.

My favorite place to be is the beach hands down! Unfortunately, due to what has been going on in the world the last couple years and with moving, I have not been to the beach in two years. Sniffle, Sniffle!! Woe is me.
